Mathematical Economics

The objective of this course is to enhance the students¡¦ ability to analyze economics using quantitative method and thus prepare them for advanced microeconomic analysis. The topics to be covered in the course are set theory (convex sets, open sets and closed sets, ¡Ketc.), univariate and multivariate functions (especially concave, convex, homogeneous and homothetic functions) as well as the static optimization theory and comparative statics. The duality theory of consumer behavior will be introduced provided that time is available.
